Episode notes

Moontee Sinquah, who hails from the Hopi, Tewa and Choctaw nations performs internationally and nationally with his family, including sons Sampson Sixkiller, Scott Sixkiller, and nephew Colby Afraidofhistracks, sharing their powwow style of song and dance that is a unique blend of contemporary music and lyrics, with traditional elements of Hopi powwow song and dance.

In my discussion with Moontee, I gain a better understanding of Hopi culture, the role of song and dance, and Moontee and his family, a modern Hopi family, trying to carve a place in society while honoring the culture that raised them.
